For business or pleasure, travelers should pay attention to Customs Regulations over limitation of cash-brought while enter (to) and exit (from) a country. The countries stated below being chosen because its popularity as business and tourism destination. Generally, regulations for currency import or export are the same, unless specified. Over the limitation should be declared to Customs Officer through Red Channel.
EU (French, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, UK etc)
Local currency and foreign currencies: no restrictions if arriving from or traveling to another E.U. country.
If arriving directly from or traveling to a country outside the E.U.: maximum amounts EUR 10,000.- (or the equivalent in another currency , incl. banker’s draft and cheques of any kind).
USA
United States Dollar and foreign currencies: not exceeding USD 10,000.-. (including endorsed personal checks, travelers cheques, gold coins, securities or stocks in bearer form)
Canada
The limitation is CAN$10,000 (or its equivalent in a foreign currency), whether in cash or other monetary instruments.
Brazil
Brazilian Real (BRL) and other foreign currency: limitations up to BRL 10,000. – or equivalent.
UAE
Currency Import Regulation:
United Arab Emirate Dirham (AED) and other foreign currencies: allowed, however, currency exceeding AED 40,000.- (or equivalent) must be declared on arrival.
Currency Export regulations:
No restrictions.
Singapore
Singapore Dollar (SGD) and foreign currencies: up to SGD 30,000.-. (including travelers cheque, bearer cheque, bill of exchange, promissory note)
Indonesia:
Local and Foreign currencies: amount exceeding the equivalent of IDR 100,000,000.- (approx. USD 11,000.-) must be declared.
Thailand
Local currency: up to THB 50,000.- per person or THB 100,000.- per family holding one passport.
Foreign currencies: not exceeding USD 20,000.- (or equivalent).
Hong Kong
There is no restriction on the import or export of banknotes or currency notes.
China
Local currency (Chinese Ren Min Bi-CNY): up to max. CNY 20,000.- in cash.
Foreign currencies: Passengers carrying USD 5,000. or higher amounts , must declare it upon arrival/departure.
Australia
Australian Dollar (AUD) and foreign currencies: no restrictions up to AUD 10,000.- (or equivalent in freely convertible currency).
